Israeli opposition parties have agreed to form a new coalition government.

Israeli opposition parties have reached an agreement to form a new government that would end Benjamin Netanyahu's 12-year rule as prime minister.

Yair Lapid, leader of the centrist Yash Atid Party, announced that an alliance of eight factions had been formed.

Under the rotation arrangement, right-wing Yamina Party leader Naftali Bennett will serve as prime minister before handing over to Mr. Lapid.

A parliamentary vote is also required before the government is sworn in.

However, voting is not expected for a few days, yet there is a possibility that this newly formed coalition may be defeated due to deviation.

Who is Naftali Bennett, Israel's likely PM?

In a statement, Mr Lapid said he had informed President Raven Revelin of the agreement, adding: "I promise that this government will support all Israeli citizens who voted for it and did not vote Diya will work in their service.

"He will respect his opponents and do his best to unite and unite all sections of Israeli society."

In an image in the Israeli media, Mr. Lapid, Mr. Bennett and Mansour Abbas, leader of the Arab Islamist Ram Party, signed the agreement, which many thoughts was impossible. This is the first time in decades that an Israeli Arab party has joined the government. Other parties representing Israeli Arabs - who make up 20 percent of the population - have said they will oppose a government led by Mr. Bennett, which rejects the idea of a Palestinian state, according to AFP. Do

Abbas told reporters: "The decision is difficult and there is a lot of controversies, but agreements need to be reached." “A lot of this agreement is for the benefit of the Arab community,” he said. Mr. Lapid said he would head the government with Mr Bennett, replacing him as prime minister on August 27, 2023.

Mr. Revlin has called on parliament to convene as soon as possible for a vote of confidence.

If the coalition fails to win a majority in the 120-seat Knesset, there is a risk of running for a fifth term in two years.

Members of the Allies cover all areas of Israeli politics. The parties have nothing in common politically except their own plan to replace Mr. Netanyahu.

 They are:

Yash Atid (Center) - Led by Yair Lapid (17 seats)

Kohl Lavan (blue and white) (center) - headed by Benny Gantz (eight)

Israel Beitino (center among right-wing nationalists) - headed by Avigdor Lieberman (seven)

Labor (Social-Democratic) - headed by Merwa Michael (seven)

Yamina (right-wing) - headed by Naphtali Bennett (seven)

New Hope (center-right wing) - led by Gideon Saar (six)

Meritz (left-wing, social-democratic) - led by Nitin Horowitz (six)

Ram (Arab Islamist) - headed by Mansour Abbas (four)

All eight factions were needed to pass the 61-majority party.

The marathon talks on Wednesday took place at a hotel near Tel Aviv, with a large number on the agenda - from fines for illegal cannabis production to the rotation of judicial selection committee posts.

The Israeli media suggested that not all elements have been finalized, and this could raise doubts about whether the coalition will win its confidence vote.
